We built the first Duluth Fall Festival Website way back in 2001. Over the years, we added more content and functionality until the needs of the Festival and its visitors outgrew what a standard HTML website could economically provide.
So in 2014, we build the next iteration of the website in WordPress, greatly enhancing its capabilities and functionality… most importantly making it mobile-friendly.
This year, it was time to update the award-winning site again to take full advantage of the latest WordPress technologies. Given that the vast majority of the site traffic takes place over the Festival weekend, with nearly 42.000 pageviews and over 83% of those using mobile devices, there was a great need to further optimize the content of the website for the mobile user.
Working closely with the Festival content advisors, we brought the website up-to-date by building a faster-loading, mobile-friendly, SSL-secured WordPress website. The website is now equipped to provide a better user experience on mobile devices during heavy traffic periods.
The website also allows Arts & Crafts and Food Vendors to register online and have their registration information relayed to the appropriate Festival Committees to manage the applications. The application information is archived to a continuously-updated database for the Festival Committee Chairperson’s reference.
Since 1983, Duluth has hosted their Annual Fall Festival the last weekend in September. Today, the Duluth Fall Festival is one of the most successful festivals in the southeast, with attendance consistently upwards of 100,000.
Be sure to visit the Festival this year in beautiful downtown Duluth on the last weekend in September— September 28 – 29, 2019.
